Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Dea Doyle

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

My latest single is called ‘One For Me’ and its tale of unexpected love. It’s a very fun and upbeat track and definitely one of my favourite chorus’ of mine.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

My first single was a song called ‘New Lover’,

I still adore that song, it’s about these dreams I kept having about meeting Harry Styles and falling in love haha. I remember the release being really exciting and the response from everyone was incredible.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

My favourite single of mine is a song called ‘Make A Living’, it’s about the daily slog of a day job and just wanting to be able to make money from being a musician.

Your favourite song to play live:

My favourite song to play live is a song called ‘Come & Play’. It’s unreleased but it’s about the excitement and anticipation of a night out and wearing a fabulous outfit.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

I’d say probably ‘Make A Living’ as it’s quite a long song and the bridge took a while to get right.

Your most emotional track:

I wrote a song last year called ‘What A Year it’s Been’ and that was really sad as it was about loosing my Auntie Marina who was my favourite person in the world. I haven’t released as it still feels really painful but it always makes me very emotional.

The best lyric you have ever written:

I think from ‘Make A Living’ the lyric ‘They say I should be grateful, I’ve got a wage to bring home. But is broke so damn painful when this job breaks my soul’. I relate to that lyric daily when I’m on my way to work.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Terrified. I get so nervous and feel so vulnerable playing my songs live but once I get into to it I’m having the best time.

The hardest track to play live:

I’d say ‘New Lover’ as it’s vocally really high so it’s a tough one to sing.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

I haven’t had the luxury of going on tour yet but if I did it would be my glasses as I have terrible eye sight and my vocal steamer.

Describe your fans in three words

The small fan base I do have is extremely supportive and kind, Aka my Mum.

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

Day Dreaming by Aretha Franklin, I love that song.

What we can look forward to from your band in 2024

Hopefully more songs, more shows and bigger and better things.
