Every other Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at the fourth book in the Kate Shackleton series.
A Woman Unknown (2012)
Frances Brody
Synopsis
The Woman Unknown: Deirdre Fitzpatrick is married to a man who wants to know where she really goes when supposedly taking care of her sick mother and calls on the expertise of Kate Shackleton, amateur sleuth extraordinaire to investigate.
The Gentleman: Everett Runcie is a banker facing ruin and disgrace. His American heiress wife will no longer pay for his mistakes, or tolerate his infidelity, and is seeking a divorce.
The Murder: When a chambermaid enters Runcie’s hotel room, she is shocked to find that he is alone – and dead! Suddenly Kate is thrown into the depths of an altogether more sinister investigation. Can she uncover the truth of her most complex, and personal, case to date?
– from Waterstones
Positive Points
If you are looking for a good book then this is something that you will enjoy. It is an interesting story that has a mystery to be solved that just keeps developing. The characters are described incredibly well and it is a plot that develops well.
Negative Points
Whilst the book is a good read, you may find it hard to understand part of the narrative if you have not read the rest of the books. I would also say that the book is not as good as the ones before it.
Overall Review
Overall, if you are looking for a read that is enjoyable and not too nitty gritty then this is a book for you. I found other books in the series more enjoyable but that does not mean to say that you should miss this book.
