Every day this month we are taking a look at a different rom com everyday to celebrate that it is a leap year in 2024 and valentines day also being in the same month.

Day 1 – Man Up

When you think of a rom com this may not be the first film that comes to mind because it was a film that I do not remember being advertised a lot when it was released and definitely when by under the radar for many.

I came across this film by accident one day. I was looking for something new to watch in 2016 when I lived in Newcastle and had to wait a month for my internet to be set up. In this time I would go to CEX alot and buy many DVDs of television shows and films that I could watch whilst I waited to stream again. I came across this DVD and found the case and the synopsis intriguing that I bought it.

I sae that Simon Pegg was in it and I felt that it may be a film worth watching as his other rom coms were really random topics but a very good watch.

I would say that if you are looking for a rom com that is very light then this is the film for you. It is a classic case of mistaken identity which leads to some fun parts throughout the film. There are some emotional parts throughout that may make it borderline emotional but the actors and the long list of talent that pops up will make you want to watch it.

It is a typical British style of rom com that was very common around this time and if follows similar themes that were prominent in 2015. The themes of accepting flaws and realism of life and that everything not always goes to plan is very prominent in this. It is quite an interesting watch.
