Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Noanne

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

“Goodwill” is my first and the latest single (so far) which I have released. It is a deeply personal track that marks the beginning of my journey as NOANNE. It’s a song where I blend my love for music, theater, and film with the innovative use of AI, creating a unique narrative and visual experience. The song explores themes of introspection and emotional depth, and it’s accompanied by a music video that enhances these elements visually. Releasing “Goodwill” was a defining moment for me, showcasing my dedication to pushing the boundaries of conventional music.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

Releasing my first single, “Goodwill,” was a mixture of nervous excitement and profound satisfaction. It felt like a culmination of my artistic exploration and a bold step into the music industry. The positive reception and the connection it established with listeners validated my approach to combining different artistic elements. This moment was not just about putting out a song; it was about introducing my artistic identity to the world.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

At the moment, I’m actively working on several songs set for release this year and each of them holds a special place in my heart, making it hard to pick a clear favourite. They’re all unique creations, each resonating with me in different ways. Perhaps by the end of 2024, I’ll have a definitive answer. Until then, all these upcoming songs feel like my most cherished creations, each offering something special and distinct.

Your favourite song to play live:

While each song I perform live holds a special place in my heart, “Goodwill” stands out as my favourite so far. Performing it live is an exhilarating experience; the song’s emotional depth and the narrative it weaves resonate powerfully in a live setting. The connection that forms between me and the audience during this performance is tangible, making it a profoundly fulfilling experience each time.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

Each song I write goes through a meticulous creative process, but one that particularly stands out in terms of the time taken is a yet-to-be-released track (unfortunately, cannot share the name of the single yet). This song required extensive exploration and experimentation, as I was aiming to capture a complex emotional narrative while blending different artistic influences. The process involved numerous revisions to ensure the music, lyrics, and production aligned perfectly with the envisioned theme.

Your most emotional track:

“Goodwill” is undoubtedly my most emotional track so far. It’s a song that delves deep into personal experiences and emotions. The lyrics, the melody, and the production all come together to create a space for introspection and emotional release, both for me as an artist and for the listeners.

The best lyric you have ever written:

One of the lyrics from “Goodwill” that I hold dear is: “Would you notice my silent steps behind your door?” This line encapsulates the essence of the song – the longing for recognition and understanding in a world where we often feel invisible or misunderstood.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Stepping on stage is like entering a different realm. There’s a rush of adrenaline mixed with a profound sense of purpose. I feel connected not only to the music but also to every person in the audience. Each performance is an opportunity to share a part of myself and to experience the communal power of music.

The hardest track to play live

Currently, I’m still in the process of building my live performance repertoire, and while I haven’t had extensive live performances yet, I can assure you that the tracks we’re currently working on will present a challenge in a wonderful way. Each of these songs embodies a depth of emotion, intricate instrumental arrangements, and a unique essence that would make them quite an adventure to perform live. I’m excited about the upcoming performances, and while I can’t reveal all the details just yet, I believe that when you experience my live show (hopefully soon), you’ll grasp exactly what I mean.

Essential items you always take on tour with you:

While I haven’t embarked on a tour yet, it’s a dream I’m eagerly looking forward to in the near future. When that happens, my essential items will definitely include my beloved ukulele, which has been the birthplace of most of my songs. Alongside it, I’ll carry my manifestation notebook, a constant source of inspiration and reflection. And of course, my phone, to stay connected with the world and share my journey as it unfolds. These items are not just tools; they are extensions of my creative spirit and connection to my audience.

Describe your fans in three words:

Passionate, empathetic, and visionary. My fans are individuals who deeply engage with music and the stories it tells. They are not just listeners; they are fellow travellers on this artistic journey.

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

Among many inspiring tracks, “Light” by Michael Kiwanuka stands out as a song I deeply resonate with and wish I had written. This song is a beautiful blend of soulful melodies and profound lyrics that speak to the human experience. Michael Kiwanuka’s ability to capture the essence of hope and resilience in his music is truly inspiring. His songwriting is not just about creating melodies; it’s about telling stories that connect with people on a personal level. “Light” embodies this perfectly, making it a song that aligns with my artistic values and aspirations.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

The release of my second single in January, followed by subsequent releases almost every other month, culminating in the release of my seventh single in October, which will conclude my EP. Alongside these releases, I’m eagerly anticipating the opportunity to bring these songs to life through live performances, sharing the energy and emotion of my music in a tangible, communal experience with my audience.
