Ones To Watch 2024 – INTERVIEW – Already Dead

It is the new year which only means one thing, it is time to celebrate acts that you should be keeping an eye on this year! Today we speak to the band Already Dead who have a lot of new music in the works.

Hello tell us all about your band?

Hello! We are Already Dead, a three-piece punk band based north of Boston, MA, USA. Raised on punk, folk, ska, hardcore. We aim to send a message of working class solidarity, mixed with some self reflection. Conceived in Covid times, we began releasing music and playing shows in the last half of 2021. After a seven-song album, and a handful of singles, we are still here rabble rousing, making music and causing a scene.

How was 2023 for your band – what were the highlights?

2023 was great! Made music and memories all year. Played some great shows, released some cool art.

What was the top 3 highlights for you?

Oh man. I guess I would say the three highlights were the three releases we put out actually, because all the other highlights revolves around those. Back in April, we released an experimental collaboration and music video with our BOS the Rapper called “Don’t Wake Me”. We pushed our boundaries style wise with this one and had a blast doing it.

In September, we released “Bread and Roses”. An old protest song which was used in 1912 during the millworkers strikes in Lawrence Massachusetts. We released it Labor Day weekend, and had the honor to perform it at the opening ceremony of the Bread and Roses festival which takes place on Labor Day every year in Lawrence.

Then in October we released “Landlord”. An acoustic song about struggling to get by in today’s working climate and living conditions. This song was an effort to have a song really stripped down and hopefully still have a real strong effect. Accompanied by a great music video, directed by Berto Media. We are really proud of this one.

What was the key lesson you learnt from last year?

I think patience, and appreciation is something I HOPE we are learning, haha. When things may not happen or progress in the ways you’re trying to manifest. It is good to look back on progress made and appreciate any and all progress you have made, and keep pushing forward.

How did you get into music?

I’ve been into music my whole life. Influenced by an uncle who was a musician as well as my step father who exposed me to all types. I remember begging for a guitar while still in elementary school. Got one Christmas Day ‘99.

What are your plans for the band in 2024?

NEW ALBUM!! Haha, we are psyched. A full length album of all new songs. We are in the recording process now and can’t wait to put it out.

What other bands and musicians are you looking forward to seeing perform this year?

Looking forward to seeing what the bands in our New England scene have coming up. Performance and record wise. There are so many great ones that have been putting out killer music and I’m sure there is more to come.

What styles do you hope to see more of in music this year?

All styles from all artists. I mean it with sincerity. If someone has the guts to put out something they made and are happy with, then I’m all for it.

Do you have any new years resolutions? If so what are they?

Aaaaah. Nah. Haha. Just trying to be better than yesterday.

Are you on social media? If so how can people find out more about you?

Yep! You name it, we got it.
