Every other Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are going to look at the first in the series of the first adult books by the same person who created Paddington Bear.
Monsieur Pamplemousse (1983)
Michael Bond
Synopsis
Introduces an undercover agent for France’s preeminent culinary guidebook who, with his dog Pommes Frites, investigates the causes and consequences of a most bizarre dinner
– from Amazon
Positive Points
When I heard that the writer of Paddington Bear had created a sort of detective series for adults I knew I was interested in reading it, when I discovered that the name of the lead was Pamplemousse I knew it was a book that I had to read. It is a book that you expect someone like Michael Bond to write as it is so random, there is so much content that you would not expect to happen that it is so random. There are inflatable kennels, wooden legs, heads in dinners….it really is incredible unique.
Negative Points
This book is incredibly random and you may not be a fan of how bizarre at times it actually can be.
Overall Review
I found this really amusing book because it was so out of the ordinary, there was so much happening that made me feel surprised that it was a light hearted and entertaining read. It is not a very serious book and you also get the perspective of the dog Pomme Frites. If you are looking for something unusual, read this.
