It is the last feature of the year so we are finishing off 2023 with a bang before we go on and celebrate the festive season and the end of the year in December. This month we speak to writer-performer and improviser Laurie Stevens. This year she has had a busy one performing the show Sticky Floors – A wild mashup of character comedy, clown, drag and live music exploring teenage anger. This week we finish the interview with a classic quick fire round.
Favourite television show?
Call me basic, but…Friends.
Favourite film?
Singin’ in the Rain and Anchorman. I will not choose between the two.
Favourite quote from a film or TV show?
I love lines that are really ‘on character’, so basically anything from The Office US.
If you had a tattoo to represent improv what would it be and why?
I’d do a Lord of the Rings cast and get the same tattoo as my whole team.
Favourite song lyric?
I don’t know about mine, but I think David’s would be a real moody teen classic like ‘my shadow’s the only one who walks beside me’.
Cat or dog person?
Cat. I love dogs too, but I’m a shallow person and cats are fluffier and cleaner.
Marmite – love or hate?
Meh.
Favourite superhero?
1960s Batman.
Favourite book?
Call me basic again, but…Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (appropriately!)
