Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Paper Tigers

Tell us About:

Your latest single you have released:

“Into That Good Night”. It’s a heavy-hitting, riff-laden, catchy AF ripper.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

The first single we ever put out was “Commotio Cordis”, off of The Outer Limits EP. We felt it was our strongest song, at the time, and were just happy to have some “physical” media to point to. People have been asking us lately, why we don’t perform it live anymore. We may have to bring it back.

Your favorite song that you have created that is an album track:

Cutty: “Wedding Cake”

Michael: “Hymnal”

Bjarki: “The Drugs are Kicking In”

Matt: “Charmer”

Your favorite song to play live:

Cutty: “Pariah”

Michael: “Soft Focus”

Bjarki: “Soft Focus”

Matt: “Pariah”

The song that was the longest to write and why

“Hymnal.” Up to the point of writing this track, we had written 30, or so, songs. We were experimenting with different song structures, at the time, to kind of break away from our usual patterns. This song took the longest because we were really challenging ourselves to write differently.

Your most emotional track:

“Tonight,” off our I Wish Someone Would Have Told Me This Sooner EP. It deals with some heavy issues, both generally speaking and personally.

The best lyric you have ever written:

I guess that would have to be either “Modern living made life easy, but it also made us angrier.”, from “The Drugs are Kicking In”, off our upcoming Charmer LP or “You said that you feel so lonely, surrounded by those that you love,” from “Commotio Cordis”.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show

“We hope we don’t f*** this up.”

The hardest track to play live

Paper Tigers: “Spirit Folk”, “A Portrait of a Scene” or “L’appel du Vide”.

Essential items you always take on tour with you:

Haribo Gummies

Describe your fans in three words

Loyal, enthusiastic, kind

A song by another artist or band you wish you had

Cutty: “Grounds” by IDLES

Michael: “Natural One” by Folk Implosion

Bjarki: “Waterloo Sunset” by The Kinks

Matt: “For Miles” by Thrice

What can we look forward to from your band this year:
