Welcome the feature where we ask musicians or bands five really tough questions about music! Today we speak to Maverick, a punk band from Montreal. Today we give them some tough questions to answer about music.
What is the hardest lyric you have ever had to write and why?
There is one unreleased song that was quite painful to write. I’m not even sure if it will ever see the day though haha. To be honest, all the lyrics pretty much come naturally, when the timing is right.
What is the weirdest gift or compliment a fan has given you?
‘’If Brody Dalle heard you sing, she would want to marry you, right away’’ someone told our singer at the end of a set. Ok, perhaps the exact word was not ‘’marry’’, but we thought it’d be wise to keep it PG13
Who is the best band or musician you have had the pleasure to share the stage with?
Honestly, there are a few that blew us away. Really talented bands, and we hope with all our hearts that ego won’t get in the way and they’ll stick together to show the world what we saw. That being said, it was our great honor and privilege to open for Canadian punk legends, Ripcordz a couple of months ago.
Which one of your songs has been the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?
The Tower. It’s quite fast (as most of our songs), and the tempo variation can be a bit tricky. We love it, but it was a hard one to get, specially for our drummer. The singer still struggles to catch his breath between two lines haha
Dream Collaboration and why?
A collab with any punk / punk-ish artist would be awesome actually! Perhaps any well-known band we grew up listening to or recent discoveries… yeah, that would be dreamy. For obvious reasons. Such bands as Amyl and the Sniffers, Nofx, Rancid, Gorilla Biscuits, MDC, Green Day, GBH…
