The Travel Book – Falko, Haddington, Scotland

I have spoken on this article before that when you go to a smaller village or location in Scotland, it can be very hard to find somewhere to eat during the middle of the day – well today we are going to take a different spin on this topic.

I had just visited the East Lothian town of Dunbar and had jumped on a bus to Edinburgh but I realised as soon as my journey started, I desperately needed a cup of tea. I had spent the last few days travelling hundreds of miles and it was catching up with me and the exhaustion was kicking in.

I didn’t plan where I was going next, instead I jumped off the bus at the next village, which was Haddington and went to the first cafe I saw with people sitting outside and thought to myself ‘ that will do.’ I didn’t even look at the name of the location or what they had on the menu. I am so glad that I went in on a whim because it ended up being a truly fantastic place.

Falko is a German cafe and restaurant that is located on the high street of Haddington. It is open daily, however it is shut on Mondays and Tuesdays. There is seating both inside and outside.

The seating indoors is surrounded by antiques that are available to purchase if you desire. There is a really interesting menu on offer where you can have everything from a sandwich to hot food.

If there is one excuse that you need to visit this cafe then it should be the cakes because they both look and taste absolutely amazing. I had a cherry and Almond slice and it tasted delicious. I am glad that I was starting to feel tired because it lead to me finding a fantastic cafe I may not of been to any other way.
