Hello! Tell us about you show ?
My show is Called The Rise and Fall of Nerine Skinner (A Liz Truss Parody) which is all to do with making it in my career as a Liz Truss impressionist (well parody!) and then it going as fast as it came!
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?
I wanted to choose something that is what is says on the tin. That my show is exactly the title. As the show is all about my rise and fall in my career, I felt like it was pretty apt. However, thinking about it perhaps I chose a really long title! I also wanted to make sure it didn’t read as a show all about politics, that it would be a bit more general and silly.
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
It will be a mix of stand up, character comedy and songs! Expect to see political characters and (loose) impressions as well as lots of original character creations of mine as they help me get my career back on track.
What will your set be about?
I went viral on YouTube last year after doing Liz Truss parodies and unfortunately my success only lasted the amount of time as she did as Prime Minister… about 44 days! So my show is about my 5 minutes of fame and rise to success and then immediate fall! I also went on Britains Got Talent last year and it went so well and then disappeared as quickly as it came. So my show will be me telling these stories, talking about my upbringing and exploring what to do next with the assistance of all the characters I’ve created!
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
I am looking forward to seeing Kayleigh Jones, Matt Green and Susan Harrison.
What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Camden Fringe next year?
To just go for it. There’s no time like the present & it will be so worth it on many levels. If you’re thinking about it and wondering what if, just give it a go!
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
The whole company are so friendly, approachable and it’s also financially manageable. I feel like I could pick up the phone and someone would be there to help on the other side.
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?
To only spend within your means. If you have little money, like me, only spend to that and make something of it in your show. Especially if it’s comedy, you can really make something of it as part of your set. And to not compare yourself to others. You are doing a show and that’s brilliant in itself!
What are your three favourite things about Camden?
Food, Camden lock and the atmosphere
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
“It will be an experience. One you may wish to forget but an experience all the same” I said this once and it went down really well and actually it’s totally true! I’ve provided a true experience!
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig and Tina Fey
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
Clive – I always think Clive is such a solid name. And all Clive’s I know are really friendly and caring. I see the fringe as having a caring and nurturing vibe. Solid Clive!
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
@nerineskinner across all socials YouTube https://youtube.com/@nerineskinner
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Silly, truthful, energising
