Hello! Tell us about yourself?

We are BrainFools, a whimsical bunch of 10 circus artists and friends of the circus arts, founded by Finn and Toffy after a gravity-defying graduation from London circus school. Our ambition is to create thought-provoking tales through a rollercoaster of uplifting and downright silly circus arts, tour our shows internationally, and build a HQ for like-minded artists and performers who love to make audiences laugh AND think.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the Fringe?

The name Lucky Pigeons hatched from our quirky quest to create a show spotlighting society’s uneven treatment of some folks, like our homeless pals. We spotted a striking resemblance between this attitude and how pigeons are often labelled as pesky freeloaders. But plot twist! Our pigeon research unveiled their secret ancient identity as lucky charms! This fascinating flip-flop got our creative feathers ruffled, and voilà, a show that fuses thought-tickling themes with the unexpected charm of our plucky, feathered heroes was born!

Tell us all about your show!

Lucky Pigeons is a contemporary circus show, featuring 7 performers juggling, flipping, and flying through aerial acrobatics, dance, and theatre. It’s an uproarious, family-friendly show made for everyone. The hour-long performance showcases thrilling acrobatics, eye-popping costumes, and toe-tapping music. We’re taking circus arts to new heights with our innovative approach and a touching, thought-provoking, and giggle-inducing story.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the Fringe?

We’re keen to see a variety of acts, especially those that blend different art forms and don’t take themselves too seriously, just like us!

Have you done the Fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the Fringe?

This is our first time at the Fringe, and we’re as excited as a unicyclist on a tightrope! Some key pieces of advice we’ve received are to stay organized, promote our show with some outdoor training sessions, and network with other performers to make the most of the experience.

What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?

Our favourite shows have been those that combine various art forms, such as circus, dance, and theatre, all wrapped up in a big bow of humour and creativity.

Favourite one-liner you have done in a show and why?

‘Why did the pigeon join the circus? To show off its high-flying skills!’ Just kidding, we don’t really talk in our show. To keep it accessible for everyone.

What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?

We’ve seen fantastic comedy shows that incorporate elements of physical theatre, surrealism, and audience interaction – all served with a side of witty banter.

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the Fringe?

To fully enjoy the Fringe, embrace the unexpected, explore a smorgasbord of shows, and take the chance to meet and connect with fellow artists and performers who love to laugh.

Best thing about performing at the Fringe?

The best thing about performing at the Fringe is sharing our wacky approach to circus arts with a diverse and appreciative audience, while putting smiles on their faces.

The most challenging thing about performing at the Fringe?

The most challenging aspect is juggling the logistics of promoting and performing our show while also trying to enjoy the festival and support other artists.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the Fringe?

Comfy shoes for walking, flyering, and impromptu acrobatic training sessions.

A well-organized schedule, color-coded and possibly covered in bird feathers and glitter.

A sense of humour and the ability to adapt to unexpected challenges.

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

The secret to successful flyering is to engage with potential audience members like they’re your new best friends, and convey the excitement of your show in a concise, memorable, and hilariously witty way.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Our ultimate dream audience member would be someone who loves the blend of circus, dance, and theatre, and leaves the show with their spirits soaring and cheeks aching from laughter.

If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?

They can follow us on Instagram and Facebook at @BrainFools

And finally, in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Hilarious, Daring, Unforgettable.
