Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Amos Gill. 31 yo Australian comedian who lives in LA. I’m half Croatian and talk about that incessantly, depending on World Cup results.
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?
The Bill of Rights from the United States of America has no copyright.
Tell us all about your show!
My show is about trying to be happy and the many impediments we all have to getting there. Others have said my show is about a moron degenerate, grappling with stoic philosophy he clearly doesn’t understand.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Daniel Muggleton. I left my AirPods at his house in Sydney, so it’ll be nice to have those back.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
I’ve never done the fringe. I’ve been warned off it. Almost everything I’ve been told is that it will be a cataclysmic collapse of my financial well-being. But I really like my show and I think the UK deserves a chance to see it.
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
“The doctor said if I managed it correctly, it would stop weeping in a week” (it was part of a bigger routine)
What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?
I can’t say I really watch much comedy in my time off. I like watching videos where people pressure clean things. I like that one where the guy finds a filthy rug that someone has thrown out, but he knows, with his cleaning products and high pressure hose, he’s got himself Persian for free.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
Scroll for reviews of my show. Say that they mean nothing when they are bad and share them on social media if they are good. Then I will eat lunch and search for reviews of people I hate, hoping they have been shredded by a big paper. See they have 5 stars and making multiple phone calls to friends repeating the words “I don’t get it” and “it’s not comedy”
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
To stop pursuing relationships with people you dislike or you think are good for your career. I stopped networking when I left the legal profession.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
I’m looking forward to catching up with friends from all over the world and writing off some the money I made in Australia with a big Edinburgh loss.
The most challenging thing about performing at the fringe?
Probably living in a dump with s*** weather. But I’m really looking forward to getting over there!
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
Xanax
Oxycodone
Complete works of Sophocles
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
Have a profile so it’s completely unnecessary
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
A 5ft 3 brunette from South America who is educated and loves watching football. The tits can be any size, not a tit guy.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
Get me on instagram (@abitofamosgill). And thank you for reading this.
