Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I’m Ian Stone and I’m a comedian, writer, broadcaster and podcaster. Essentially, anything to not have to get a proper job

How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the Fringe?

It sounded funny. Also, assuming you enjoy the show, I will actually make it better.

Tell us all about your show!

Currently “It’s a collection of jokes, some of which I’m yet to write, based vaguely around the idea of making it better”.

By the time it gets to Edinburgh “A comedy masterclass! An hour that feels like fifteen minutes. Full of wit and wisdom. A stand up show for the ages. Life affirming and joyous”.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the Fringe?

I don’t know who else is on yet and who’s got a good show. What I tend to do is wait to see what a selected group of middle class men say and then decide from there.

Have you done the Fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the Fringe.

My advice is to have fun, get an early night at least once in the month, eat a lot of fruit and don’t take any of it personally.

What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?

I’ve seen loads of good stand up, some in shows and some from comedians I’ve worked with. Here’s a list of six really funny people you may or may not have heard of. Peter Brush, Jo Caulfield, Jo Enright, Cerys Nelmes, Ninia Benjamin, Andy Askins, Kerry Godliman. Go and see them do their thing. They’re all brilliant

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Make sure I get enough

  1. Sleep
  2. Food
  3. Exercise

And a show every day. After that, I sort of see where the day takes me. Doesn’t everyone?

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the Fringe?

Retain some perspective. Keep in mind that it’s all b******* and no-one outside Edinburgh cares (and also most people inside Edinburgh). It’s worth writing this on a post it note and sticking it to the kitchen table

Best thing about performing at the Fringe?

You get to do an hour show every day

The most challenging thing about performing at the fringe?

You have to do an hour show every day

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the Fringe?

For me, it’s deodorant, an abundant supply of illegal drugs and my favourite pillow but everyone’s different.

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

Boundless optimism

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

If I have to choose one, Princess Michael of Kent

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

@iandstone on Twitter and Insta

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

I need love
