Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Hi, I’m Ben Lovell. I’m a improvisor, stand up, and one of the newer members of Improbotics.
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?
Credit goes to Improbotics creators, Piotr Mirowski and Kory Mathewson! 🙂
Improv + Robots = Improbotics.
If I’m wrong I’m terribly sorry.
[Note from Piotr: No need to be sorry! But some people keep calling us Improbiotics, as in gut medicine…]
Tell us all about your show!
We combined improv and AI. A combination of short form and long form games in which we incorporate our lovable improviser A.L.Ex.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Adam Flood ‘Remoulded’.
Patti Harrison ‘My tits are huge because they are infected not fake’.
Ania Magliano ‘I can’t believe you’ve done this’
Sarah Roberts ‘Worm in progress’
Stephen Catling ‘Beehavioural Problems: Something Something Autism’
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
This will be the first time performing at the Edinburgh for me. I haven’t been offered advice for Edinburgh before. I’m gonna try to get some Fringe advice before I go.
What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?
Luckily I’ve seen Stephen Catling at a night I run in London a few times, and every time the show is insane.
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
Phone, phone charger, something to prop your phone up to watch films for the journey.
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
Stand out! Luckily we’ll be dressed in our shiny robot costumes, so if we don’t blind you then hopefully we’ll convince people to come join us.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
If we can get audience members that are new to improvised comedy and who are terrified by AI to show them that used in the right way it can be wonderful and fun…. Or Phil from Somebody Feed Phil.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
You can find me @benjamin_lovell1 and the team socials
@Improbotics and @ImproboticsLtd
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
You’ll love A.L.Ex !
