Hoopla’s UK & Ireland Improv Festival – INTERVIEW – Box Of Frogs

This weekend is the first ever Hoopla UK and Ireland Improv Festival where 18 acts from all across the country are heading down to the Miller at London Bridge to perform at this very exciting event! Over the week we are going to be interviewing some of the acts that are set to perform! I sat down Birmingham based improv troupe Box of Frogs to find out all about their set.

Time Slot: 7pm
Day: Friday 26th April

Hello There! Tell us about your troupe and the name of your set!

We are Box of Frogs and the set doesn’t really have a name beyond Improv Comedy from Box of Frogs

Tell us a little bit about your style of improv?

Unashamed, high-octane, full throttle, short form fun.

What will your set be about?

About 20 minutes. Sorry. It will be a series of improv games showcasing our mastery of short-form silliness, including several musical turns

What other acts are you looking forward to?

Maydays and Stealing the Show

Your troupe is from Birmingham in the UK – what is the Improv scene like there?

Thriving! Grown from zero in the last 10 years, now with several performing companies, lots of classes and workshops, and a high profile and very successful festival.

What have been some of your favourite improv shows you have been a part of to date and why?

An improvised panto with the now-retired Ministry of Improv because of the sheer fun. Also, and improvised Bond-style spy thriller with the same company, because of all the silly tropes we could include.

What is the best bit of advice you have ever been given about Improv and why?

“Have a Shit Ton of Joy!” (Craig Uhlir) – because sometimes we get bogged down in making it right, instead of making it fun!

What are the things you are looking forward to most about the Hoopla Festival?

Meeting up with all our improv chums from around the country!

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

FB /Twitter/Insta – @BoxOfFrogsImpro

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Top Notch Shortform!
