Three years ago i bought a book in Tampa which is meant to be a great for creative like minds and for the past three years I have made it my New Years Resolution to complete it. The book is called 642 Things To Write About by The San Francisco Writers Grotto. I never got round to writing many of them so what’s a better way then getting through them then writing a few as an article each week! Enjoy!
173. Write about an arrival that caught you or your character completely unaware
I was sitting on the train lost in my music and reading on my Kindle. I don’t really look up very much from my book but I do every so often. One day I looked up and see on the other side of the train is a guy that i went to school with and haven’t seen him for years – it completely shocked me and took me completely unaware.
174. Explain to the historians of 2150 what its like to go to a shopping mall. Remember that they may not have malls in 2150, or escalators, food courts, or cash.
Instead of explaining what the mall is I would let them “experience” what the mall is by playing them the song from HIMYM and Robin Sparkles
175. Begin a letter: “I am telling you this story because you are the only person who will not judge me…”
I am telling you this story because you are the only person who will not judge me because you do lots of stupid things all of the time. I know that if I tell you this then you won’t laugh in my face, judge me as a person, tell anyone because you are trustworthy and thats why you are my best friend.
Remember that time you slept with your boyfriends mate – well i don’t worry its not as bad as that, ooo or the other time you ate the chip off the floor covered in god knows what because you were really hungry and drunk and didn’t care we were in a disgusting dive.
I am going to tell you my tale now so please don’t judge me – I stole a glass that George Clooney was drinking out of when he wasn’t looking and keep it in a protected case in my house and plan to sell it on ebay.
