This week there has been a lot of announcements of new comedy shows that are coming to the small screen in the months to come. All the shows that have been announced have big names attached to them so here is your guide of all things new and funny coming to a screen near you.
Zapped! Dave

It was announced that Steve Coogan’s production company, Baby Cow is in the works of producing a show for the channel Dave which is based around Fantasy Comedy. The television show which is to be called Zapped! is to feature Inbetweeners actor James Buckley and Game of Thrones actor Paul Kaye and is about an online data marketing assistant who finds himself abruptly transported to a parallel world. The show has been commissioned for three 40 minute episodes and set to launch this Autumn after the new series of Red Dwarf.
Sick Note Sky Atlantic

In early 2017, a new six part sitcom is being released on Sky Atlantic which is set to star big screen names, Rupert Grint and Nick Frost. The show is based around a man who is mis-diagnosed with cancer, but continues to say he’s got it so that people are nicer to him. The show follows what happened when his lies start to spiral out of control. The programme is being produced by King Bert production company which was founded by David Walliams, Miranda Hart and Jo Sargent.
Only in Japan Channel 4

Channel 4 has always known for being edgy and introducing the world to the bizarre and unique game shows and it is about to bring another one to add to that collection. Noel Fielding is set to host a gameshow which looks at the popular culture of Japanese game shows. The show will see two teams with comedians and celebrities take on a variation of games that are popular on the Japanese television shows. The show will be a one off hour long show.
Damned Channel 4

Back in 2014, Sky Arts released a pilot episode of the sitcom Damned starring Jo Brand and Alan Davies but it never went any further. However, this year Channel 4 has announced that it has ordered six episodes of the sitcom which is based around the lives of two ‘jaded social workers.’ Filming on the episode starts in June and its set to air later this year.
