The most recent trend in the travel show is to attach a comedy to it and there are so many – some serious, some spoofs, some that are the dynamics of an actual scripted comedy and others because they were one big practical joke! Travel Thursdays have just got bigger as we are now adding a comedic spin on it where we are looking at the comedian versus the travel.
Today we look at a television show that was released on ITV in 2015 and follows the Welsh Comedian, Griff Rhys Jones take on an adventure of a lifetime in a show called Slow Train Through Africa with Griff Rhys Jones.
The first season was made up of five episodes and saw Griff explore different areas of the continent whilst travelling 7000 miles and explores a variety of things such as breathtaking landscapes, wildlife and meeting local people and finding out about their culture.
The aim of this show was not just about the travel but by portraying it with fantastic camera shots such as aerial photography. Whilst Griff is travelling to different areas of Africa to find out about them, the main focus is really on the train and how it travels to really unespected areas and has a lot of stories and secrets that the viewer may no be aware of.
Griff stops off at a number of dfferent locations and also travels through places such as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Through this journey you get to experience Africa in a unhurried and idyllic way.
