Welcome to a brand new feature on the PR. Whenever you read or hear interviews people are always asked if you could have the perfect dinner party who would you invite living or dead. Well, i decided it was time to turn this into a feature but we are making it one step bigger – The perfect Extravagant Dinner Party, I will not just be picking the people I would want to have dinner with but the chefs and the entertainment as well!
I have given myself some ground rules – there are only 9 places available at the table to join me and there has to be a chef to represent each course and there should be only 4 acts allowed to provide entertainment.
At the table already is Donald O’Connor, and musician Tom Delonge and NHL star Marty St. Louis, Charlie Chaplin and animator Peter Lord. so now it’s time to see who is going to be taking the seat Next to them.
Dinner Guest Number 6 – Rik Mayall
For as long as I remember, Rik Mayall has always been in my Life and I have always been surrounded by his comedy and television shows. I remember when I was a kid being introduced to Drop Dead Fred at a very young age and loving it. I don’t even remember how old I was when I first saw it but to me I remember it always being there.
I suppose it’s similar with Bottom as well, I remember from a young age being allowed to stay up late and watch it – I remember doing this with my aunt and anytime it got to a bit of violence she told me to not look. To be fair I used to like it for the silliness of Rik Mayall.
There are so many reasons why i would want to have dinner with Rik Mayall the first is that he is a comedy genius- there is no one like him and there never will be. I would love to have a conversation with such a legend and hear all the stories of shows such as The New Statesman, Bottom, and The Young Ones. Rik Mayall was also famous for his letter writing and would love to hear stories direct from the man himself about the letters he wrote and so much more.
